Care
and Feeding of the Full-Time NPC
|

|
First off, we would like to thank you for volunteering to become the lovable targets of every player in this campaign. We, the staff of Monstertown, realize that this is many times a completely thankless job, and while we may not always show it, we do appreciate everything you all do for us. Lets face it, we could not put this game on without you!

And
now for the guidelines and other probably
boring stuff that you need to know
..
Check-in: All full-time NPCS must check in at Logistics, just like the players do. We know you are getting in for free, but hey, the guys who own this game like to know how many of you there are, so we need you to stand in line with everyone else and check in. Make sure whoever is at the first station understands that you are an NPC, pay for your parking ticket, politely make sure that they have entered your name into the database and get your cabin assignment. After that, youre done. Go unload your gear in your cabin, park your car in the designated parking area, and then report to Monstertown. Once in Monstertown: Ask who is in charge for the first shift, tell them you are a full-time NPC, and ask to sign in. This is important, because we all know how often the database blows up, and this way, we still have records of your hard work, and we can make sure you get the goblin you have surely earned. Once you have signed your name in the book, the staffer on duty should then hand you a feedback form. Dont lose it, because youll need to fill it out after the event is over, and use it for your check-out, so you will get that goblin. This is for Monstertowns use only, so no fear that anyone other than us will be seeing it. Please be completely honest when filling it out, and please realize that we do this so we know what, if any, mistakes or problems occurred during the event, and can then make sure the same problems do not occur again. Hey, we know we are already omnipotent, but even we cant be everywhere . Safety Orientation: No one, and we mean, NO ONE, goes out to monster during the event without attending this lecture. It is done both for the players safety and your own. Combat safety, general rules, npc conduct, and general dos and donts will be covered during this, and it is important that everyone attend. Please cooperate, dont be afraid to ask any questions, and once its done, its time to start plotting against the PCs. We will be doing these every event, so even if you went through one already, it doesnt hurt to attend again, especially to catch any important rule changes that may have occurred since the last time you were here. Ok, that takes care of the specific stuff, so lets get into the general stuff . Conduct: the marshall on duty will change from shift to shift, but you will always be there. Please be polite, joking around is fine, but downright insulting is not. Listen to the marshalls instructions when you are being marshalled out, and feel free to ask questions on anything you do not understand. Make sure you read the monster card you are handed completely, and make sure you understand everything on it. IMPORTANT: the only person that can change the stats of the critter you are playing is the Marshall, no one else. If caught, you will be punished. Unless the Marshall tells you that your critter is KBA (killing blow active), you are not allowed to kill PCs during combat. If caught without being instructed to do so, you will be punished. Punishment ranges from being banished from Monstertown for a month, to being banned permanently, dependant on the severity of the incident, and how many times you get busted for it. Its simple, if you have to cheat to win, then it aint worth winning . Cleanliness: this applies to Monstertown, your cabin, and yourselves. Trash is to be picked up without argument, smoking is only allowed in designated areas, and please shower when needed, especially since you will probably be going through a lot of makeup changes during the weekend. Besides, ambushes suck if the PCs can smell you before they see you. And yes, we have had to tell NPCs to do so in the past, so I figured I would just put this out where everyone sees it, to avoid any more embarrassing incidents Checking
out: If
you have to leave site early, make sure your cabin area is cleaned,
that you have all your stuff, and make sure to leave your form with
either Matt Staples, Dave Sherwen, or Taraneh. If you cant find
them, then leave it with the marshall in charge, and they will make
sure they get it to them. Your cabin will be checked before you can
leave, though, so be patient. Also
please check out Rules
for more info. |
